Lost in Funny Translation

Somehow, in the woven intricacies of language, meaning is more often than not lost or misunderstood. And sometimes, it's just plain funny. Take a look at the sign below, for instance, which really amused my fiance and I while taking a walk along Puerto Galera's famous White Beach...

Aside from the legendary "bulalo" here, there were certainly other interesting food choices. Here's one more that's bound to be unforgettably delicious! Or rather, it could be stomach-filling--- with air from laughter!

It's amazing how little it could take for us to laugh out loud. Like yesterday morning, I was listening to the radio and they were talking about such signs too. Did you know that there's a school in Antipolo with the name Inuman Elementary School? Cool, right? And did you know that there's a place in Mindanao called Barangay Bading? The list goes on and on... But we saw our favorite while we were driving along the highway. Take a load of this...

This one broke us up in peals of wild laughter! Hope it did the same for you. I guess words, whether intentional or not, could be an antidote to boredom and sadness. As for us, we will continue to hunt down such rare treasures. =)
